International Coastal Cleanup Day
During the third Saturday in September, International Coastal CleanUp Day encourages people to rid beaches of the garbage plaguing beaches. Awareness is also spread about preserving and protecting the world’s oceans and waterways.
Organizations, clubs and groups all around the world organize cleanup days along the coastlines and waterways of their communities. It takes hundreds of thousands of volunteers to do this huge but rewarding job. In 2018, more than one million volunteers around the world removed 23 million pounds of trash from coastlines and waterways in just one day.
