Purpose

This article explains how to log into the Calusa Cruise Club website, log out safely, and manage your password.

A valid login is required to access member-only information and any administrative features assigned to your account.

Before You Begin

You will need:

  • Your email address
  • Your password
  • Access to the email account associated with your website account if you need to reset your password

Do not share your login information with another member.

Each person who needs access to the website should use their own account.

Logging In

To log into the website:

  1. Open the Calusa Cruise Club website in your web browser (calusacruiseclub.com).
  2. Select Member Login.
  3. Enter your email address.
  4. Enter your password.
  5. Select Log In.

After a successful login, additional menu choices may become available.

What you see depends on the privileges assigned to your account.

For more information, see CCC-002 – Understanding User Roles and Privileges.

Confirming That You Are Logged In

After logging in, you may notice one or more of the following:

  • A Members Only menu or page becomes available.
  • Additional navigation choices appear.
  • A WordPress toolbar appears across the top of the screen.
  • Your name or account information appears in the website menu.
  • Administrative users may gain access to the WordPress Dashboard.

The exact appearance depends on your account privileges.

Logging Out

Always log out when you have finished using the website on a shared or public computer.

To log out:

  1. Select Member Login.
  2. Select Log Out.
  3. Confirm that the website returns you to a public page or login screen.

If you are using your own private computer, you may choose to remain logged in, but logging out is still recommended when you have finished administrative work.

Forgotten Password

If you cannot remember your password:

  1. Select Member Login.
  2. Enter your email address associated with your account.
  3. Press Forgot Password
  4. If the email address is valid, you will receive an email with a temporary password.
  5. Use this temporary password when you log in
  6. The system will prompt you to enter a new permanent password
  7. Create a new password.
  8. Return to the website and log in using the new password.

If you do not receive the message, check your Spam or Junk folder.

Choosing a Good Password

Use a password that is difficult for someone else to guess.

A good password should:

  • Be unique to the Calusa Cruise Club website
  • Be reasonably long
  • Contain a mixture of letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Avoid easily guessed personal information
  • Not be reused from important accounts such as your email or banking login

A password manager can make it easier to use strong, unique passwords.

Saving Passwords in Your Browser

Modern browsers may offer to save your website password.

This can be convenient when using your own computer or mobile device.

Do not allow a browser to save your password on:

  • Public computers
  • Library computers
  • Shared club computers
  • Devices used by people who should not have access to your account

Shared Accounts

Do not share a username and password between several officers or committee members.

For example, avoid creating a single account such as:

Webmaster

and giving the password to several people.

Instead, each authorized person should have their own account with the appropriate privileges.

Individual accounts make the website more secure and make it easier to change access when club responsibilities change.

Administrator Accounts

Administrator accounts have extensive control over the website and require additional care.

If you have Administrator privileges:

  • Do not share your password.
  • Use a strong, unique password.
  • Do not leave an administrative session open on a shared computer.
  • Log out when administrative work is complete.
  • Contact the Website Administrator if you suspect someone else has accessed your account.

Administrator access should be limited to users who genuinely require it.

Account Changes When Officers Change

When an officer or committee chair leaves a position, the account itself does not necessarily need to be deleted.

Instead, the Website Administrator should review the privileges assigned to that person.

For example:

  • Remove administrative privileges that are no longer needed.
  • Add the privileges required for a new position.
  • Preserve normal member access when appropriate.

This allows the member to continue using the website while protecting administrative functions.

Common Problems

My username and password are not accepted.

Check that Caps Lock is not turned on and try again carefully. If necessary, use the password-reset process.

I requested a password reset but did not receive an email.

Check your Spam or Junk folder. Also confirm that you are using the email address associated with your website account.

I can log in, but I cannot see the Members Only area.

Your account may not have the correct member privileges. Contact the Website Administrator.

I can access the Members Only area but cannot see an administrative feature.

Administrative functions require additional privileges. Review CCC-002 – Understanding User Roles and Privileges.

I changed my password and now my old password no longer works.

This is expected. Use the new password for future logins.

I think someone else knows my password.

Change the password immediately and notify the Website Administrator, especially if the account has administrative privileges.
